The future dies one day at a time
I only need you at my coldest When the earth has frozen solid When feeling leaves my fingers I will learn to let each breath linger So wrap your arms around me To keep the heat from running away And when my grip is losing ground A glorious sound I only need you at my darkest When the sky has been swallowed When my limbs have stopped shaking I will learn to love my organs failing So wrap your arms around me To keep the heat from running away And when my grip is losing ground This is the sound of arms unfolding Nothing ends but nothing lasts, the future becomes the past So warm A golden glow Sunlight From the snow So wrap your arms around me To keep the heat from running away And when my grip is losing ground...

Lamniformes, the project of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ian Cory, would be nothing without collaboration. To bring his evocative blend of post-metal and indie rock to life, Cory always employs an “it takes a village” approach. His latest record You Can’t Do This Alone takes that impulse to its logical extreme, bringing in six musicians to transform his songs into entirely new compositions.

Those six collaborators have pushed Lamniformes into new directions, transforming Sisyphean’s soulful sludge into a kaleidoscope of fresh sounds. Doom metal guitars grind atop hard trap percussion. Trip-hop and downtempo electronica rub shoulders with glitch and ambience. The resulting a remix album that completely changes its source without losing its emotional core — or soaring melodies.

By drawing together producers from across the musical spectrum, from hip-hop (Saint Thrillah) to heavy metal (Fabio Brienza of Varaha) and IDM (Noumenah) to modern classical (Adam Holmes), You Can’t Do This Alone reaffirms the power of music to connect people across great distances. The album gives Sisyphean the send-off it deserves while breaking down any limitations on where Lamniformes could go next.

"The gorgeous Noumenah remix of Lamniformes‘ track “Deep Despair In Covington, KY” feels like it’s lifting me out of today so I can see the full timeline of my life.... It’s dreamy and disorienting in a way that makes me think of that light we all walk into when we exit the physical realm." - Cvlt Nation
